| Availability
Versus Liability.
A key element in any company’s quest
to create competitive advantage is the ability to strike a
balance between availability of product with the least amount
of liability. To optimize this balance, Federal Electronics
works closely with your team to create a flexible material
pipeline that will expand and contract in response to your
volume variability. Key elements include:
- Component lead-time analysis and reduction
- Strategic placement of long lead-time product
throughout the supply chain, with an emphasis on creating
material stores as far back within the supply chain as possible,
ensuring availability while minimizing cost
- Implementation of a Kanban or multi-bin
system with defined triggers
- Product design reviews to increase manufacturability
and reduce cycle times
Federal Electronics employs a robust series
of processes to control and coordinate the acquisition and
allocation of material and labor resources in support of customer
demand. Misalignments between customer need and schedule completion
dates are communicated to the Program Managers as they occur,
providing the highest level of visibility to the person ultimately
responsible for the success of the project. The Program Managers
coordinate re-alignment activity and communicate status to
the customer on a daily basis.
